Our mission was to brainstorm ways to attract more visitors to future WordCamps \u2014 and we\u2019re proud to say we came up with some genuinely exciting ideas.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Special thanks to everyone at the marketing table \u2014 I learned a lot and appreciated the collaborative energy.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Evening Events &amp; Meaningful Connections<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The networking didn\u2019t stop after sunset. We made our way through several side events:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The GoDaddy party, where we got a sneak peek at their upcoming agency plan \u2014 it looks quite promising.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Kinsta\u00ae party, where we enjoyed great food and even better conversations. Shout-out to Matthew Sammut, Mike Miler, and others \u2014 Mike&#8217;s work in visual regression testing is definitely worth watching.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Later in the week, Omnisend hosted us for a cozy agency dinner. Their hospitality was top-notch, and their email\/SMS marketing tool continues to impress.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>WordCamp Officially Begins<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Once the conference kicked off, we dove into the talks, visited the stands, and had some productive conversations \u2014 including a few very promising business discussions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Some standout talks included:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;Bridging Design and Development: Figma Design Systems for WordPress Success&#8221;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;How to Make Your Website More Sustainable&#8221;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;How to Keep Your Head While Going Headless with WordPress&#8221;<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We also spent time gathering swag for the team and attending workshops on the final day \u2014 a nice way to round off the experience.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Honest Reflections on WCEU 2025<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While the event offered tremendous value, it also had its downsides \u2014 and we think it\u2019s important to acknowledge both.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On the positive side:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The talks were more in-depth and technically focused than those I attended in Athens (2023) and Torino (2024).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Basel\u2019s public transport system deserves a round of applause \u2014 clean, fast, punctual, and super easy to navigate.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We met lots of new faces, especially from German-speaking countries, which brought fresh energy into the WordPress community.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On the less impressive side:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We missed seeing familiar faces from Automattic and notable exhibitors like ManageWP, GoDaddy, and SiteGround \u2014 many big players were absent.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Side events and the afterparty lacked the energy and polish we saw in previous years. The high cost of everything in Basel likely played a role \u2014 from food and drinks to venue quality, everything felt scaled down.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A general observation: Swiss service culture is\u2026 rigid. People follow rules to the letter, which sometimes came off as a bit cold \u2014 especially in hotels and bars.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That said, these are minor setbacks in what was otherwise a week of strong ideas, great people, and exciting potential.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>What\u2019s Next?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After we got back, we reviewed everything we learned, followed up on leads, prepped a full team presentation, and planned what great ideas we will be integrating into our next projects. And of course, connecting with all the amazing people we met \u2014 both online and offline.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Huge thanks to the WCEU team for another unforgettable experience.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">See you at WordCamp Europe 2026 \u2014 Krakow!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And before that \u2014 we\u2019re not done with WordCamps for this year just yet. In <\/span><b>August<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, we\u2019ll be heading across the Atlantic to attend<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/us.wordcamp.org\/2025\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b> WordCamp US 2025<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.
