The Journey and First Evening in Vršac

On Saturday, September 13, 2025, the WPM team set off for WordCamp Vršac. This time we traveled in a smaller group of three members, and we were happy to offer a seat in the car to one of the organizers of the upcoming WordCamp Slovenia 2026, which will take place next May. The trip passed quickly, accompanied by conversations about WordPress, business opportunities, and development processes that currently occupy us. Upon arrival in Vršac, we spent the evening at the Dinar restaurant, where we were joined by Nenad from the Maksimer agency, whom we had already met at one of the past WordCamps in the USA. The conversation naturally flowed in the direction closest to us – from product development to agency workflows – and along the way we also discovered some of the culinary specialties of the region, which gave the evening a special touch.

WordCamps in Basel and Portland

This year we also had the opportunity to attend two major international WordCamp events. In June we were in Basel for WordCamp Europe 2025, a three-day gathering that brought together thousands of members of the global community and offered a wide range of talks, workshops, and networking opportunities. In August we attended WordCamp US 2025 in Portland, where the focus was on discussions about the future of open source, infrastructure, security, and new approaches to user experience design. Both conferences gave us a broader view of the trends shaping the future of WordPress and strengthened our belief that it is worth investing in international presence and connections.

Talks That Inspired Us

The program in Vršac was somewhat less technical than in Basel or Portland, but it was still very useful and relevant for development teams as well. We were particularly struck by Ivana Petrović’s presentation on the common gap between excellent website design and its actual business results. Mitko Kočkovski shared concrete advice on how to effectively monitor errors and perform optimization after a website launch. Anne-Mieke Bovelett spoke about how improved workflow efficiency can also bring additional profit – a topic we later discussed further at the after party hosted by GoDaddy. Also inspiring was the presentation by Vineet Talwar, who introduced approaches to better understanding user behavior and creating digital products that truly meet their needs.

Closing Thoughts

WordCamp Vršac 2025 was an excellent combination of content and community. We returned home with new ideas, strengthened existing collaborations, and took another step forward in expanding our products to foreign markets. Together with this year’s experiences at WordCamp Europe in Basel and WordCamp US in Portland, we gained a more complete insight into the global development of the WordPress ecosystem and once again confirmed that its greatest strength lies in collaboration, sharing experiences, and the relationships we build at these gatherings.
