Oštro is a center for investigative journalism established to fill gaps in the media landscape of the Adriatic region. As an independent, non-profit, and uncompromising organization, it is dedicated to investigating topics of public interest, fact-checking, and developing high-quality investigative journalism.

Since the website serves as the central hub for their research, projects, and published content, they needed a more modern digital environment that would make information easier to access for visitors while also simplifying the editorial team’s daily workflow.

The main challenge of the project was an extremely complex and time-critical migration of the entire historical archive of articles. The existing website, hosted on the Squarespace platform, was structurally disorganized, lacking proper logic, and contained inconsistently formatted articles.

Our task was to export, transform, import, and comprehensively restructure and visually standardize more than 1,600 articles (in two languages) from Squarespace within an exceptionally short timeframe of less than two months.

To put the project into perspective, our team had to process, structure, and manually edit around 80 journalistic articles per day. Such an operational scale required highly optimized internal workflows and strict project management to successfully execute one of the most extensive data migrations.

We successfully translated the visual design provided by an external design team into a unique, fast, and fully customized WordPress environment.

We bridged significant technical differences between the platforms, developed dedicated migration protocols, and successfully transferred and standardized more than 1,600 previously inconsistent articles.

We ensured that the entire content archive is seamlessly connected and structured in two languages, providing the editorial team with long-term stability.

We resolved the previous design chaos. All content is now visually and structurally standardized, while navigation makes it easier for visitors to explore complex investigative topics.

The redesigned Oštro website enables a more transparent presentation of their socially important work and significantly simplifies content management. Visitors can access research and projects more quickly, while the editorial team benefits from a flexible and fast environment for publishing and organizing content. With this project, the WPM team demonstrated its key strength: the ability to execute extremely large-scale, time-critical, and data-intensive migrations with outstanding precision in record time.
