Etiketa Magazin

Etiketa Magazin is a Slovenian lifestyle magazine covering fashion, beauty, relationships and everyday life. In a single project, we redesigned their entire website: from restructuring the sections and creating a design inspired by premium international lifestyle platforms to custom development, migrating around 1,000 existing articles, SEO, analytics and training for the editorial team. We started the design phase on 5 August 2026, and the new site launched on 20 October 2026.

Speed and SEO for a media portal

We designed the site in the spirit of a modern digital fashion magazine that guides readers through the content without the look of a traditional news portal:

  • Site structure: an analysis of the existing site, the brand's goals and its readers, followed by a proposed new structure (sitemap) with Fashion, Beauty, Lifestyle and Relationships sections and the Etiketa Moments, Etiketa Luxe and Etiketa Edit sub-brands.
  • Wireframes and Figma prototype: wireframes of the key pages (homepage, category, article, landing pages) and an interactive prototype to confirm the layout and user journey before development began.
  • Visual design: premium photography, plenty of white space, refined typography and minimalist navigation.
  • Mobile-first: a focus on reading articles on a phone, including swipe navigation between sections.
  • Dedicated spaces: Editor's Picks, a Work With Us page and individual landing pages for each sub-brand.

We built the site on WordPress using the Kadence theme, which we extended with custom development (front-end and back-end). The architecture is modular, and the editorial team manages all content independently:

  • Modular building blocks: the hero story, Editor's Picks, Trending, sections, Moments, Luxe, Edit and newsletter are standalone, reusable blocks.
  • Multi-format content: video, podcasts, galleries, embedded posts from Instagram, YouTube and Spotify, CTA buttons and related articles.
  • Etiketa Moments: an overview of upcoming events, registration forms with automatic confirmations, photo galleries from past events, video highlights, and showcases of partners and community projects.
  • Etiketa Luxe: a content hub covering luxury travel, hotels, wellness, gastronomy and cars.
  • Etiketa Edit: monthly inspiration with downloadable wallpapers for phone, tablet and desktop, a monthly horoscope, beauty and fashion picks, the trend of the month and the editors' wishlist. The editorial team refreshes the content every month on their own, without help from a developer.
  • User roles: editor, author and administrator with restricted permissions.

As a media outlet with an extensive archive, we paid particular attention to preserving SEO value and loading speed:

  • Archive migration: around 1,000 articles with text, photos, categories, tags and authors, organised into the new section structure.
  • Preserving SEO value: 301 redirects for old URLs, retained metadata and a quality check on a sample of articles after migration.
  • SEO optimisation: the RankMath PRO plugin, configured for media portals (SEO-friendly URL structure, article schema markup, Open Graph, XML sitemap and Google Discover settings).
  • Speed optimisation: the WP Rocket plugin (caching, automatic WebP image conversion, lazy loading) and CDN readiness.
  • Target: Google PageSpeed scores of 90+ on mobile and 95+ on desktop.

We completed the project with integrations for measurement and email tools, security, testing and a controlled launch:

  • Analytics: Google Analytics 4, Google Search Console, Google Tag Manager, Meta Pixel and LinkedIn Insight Tag.
  • GDPR and ZVOP-2 compliance: cookie management with Real Cookie Banner, terms and conditions, a privacy policy and consent for embedded content.
  • Newsletter: Mailchimp or Brevo integration with double opt-in, a welcome email and automatic notifications for the contact form, the Work With Us page and event registrations.
  • Security: SSL, security headers, Wordfence and spam protection.
  • Testing and launch: testing of forms, navigation and display across devices and browsers, followed by a controlled launch on 20 October 2026 with 301 redirects activated and the XML sitemap submitted to Google Search Console.
  • Training and support: a workshop and video tutorials for the editorial team, one year of hosting and regular follow-up meetings.

Etiketa Magazin now has a new, fast and modular website in the style of a premium fashion magazine, which the editorial team manages independently. The entire archive was migrated without any loss of SEO value, while the new Moments, Luxe and Edit hubs open up space for events, partnerships and new content formats. It took just over two months from the start of design to launch.
